Physics
studying_physicsPhysics is the science which deals with properties and interactions of matter and energy.
•  You can use magnets in your experiments. Find out what is magnetic in your house and what is not. If you have toy trains that attach together with magnets, demonstrate that sometimes the trains move apart, rather than connect together. This occurs since magnets have a positive and negative field: two positive or two negative ends resist each other.
•  Discover about gravity. Two various sized balls will fall at the same speed when dropped from the same height. Race toy cars down ramps set at various heights to observe how far and fast they go: gravity makes things move faster the further they fall.
•  Employ balloons to discover friction, the force that works when two surfaces rub together. Explore how many various surfaces the balloon will stick to if you rub it. Get to know if the balloon sticks for longer if you rub it for longer.
•  It is possible to explore energy with the help of an old tennis ball. Put newspaper on the floor. Douse the ball in some washable paint and throw it onto the floor. After this measure the distance between the blobs of paint. Then, drop the ball with a bit more force: the distance between the blobs will be larger, because the ball got more energy from the throwing movement of your arm.
•  Experiment with light. Get a lot of torches, then attach some colored tissue paper or cellophane over the ends with elastic bands. Shine the torches onto the ceiling of a darkened room and observe what happens when the colors mix.
•  Explore refraction. Pour water into a glass and put a spoon in it - the spoon will look 'bent' at the spot where it enters the water. This is because when the light enters another medium of different density it is deflected. It will be good to have experiments with other objects in the glass.
